Nowhere is the dominance of Mayan culture more apparent than in the weekly market at Chichicastenango, where women decked in Mayan regalia and carrying babies on their backs hawk their wares and offer delectable food options for foodies.




The pre-Columbine church of Santo Tomas (built in the mid 1500s) is still used by K'iche' Mayan priests for rituals, and women for selling flowers and incense.











Notable among Mayan art offerings are their brightly colored and meticulously woven textiles.
