For a small island country, Ireland sure packs a punch. Not only in food, scenery and music, but even in world literature. From Beckett to Shaw, Oscar Wilde to Bram Stoker, WB Yeats to James Joyce, Jonathan Swift to Seamus Heaney, Sean O'Casey to Brendan Behan, Irish dramatists and playrights have dominated the world of literature. Perhaps it's the brooding influence of year round rain and the natural dominance of brewpubs that sprung such creativity, but literature, as celebrated on this mural, is an integral part of Dublin's DNA.
Nothing signifies the Irish affection for drinking as the iconic Temple bar south of the Liffey, or the Irish whiskey museum, along with the Guinness storehouse and Jameson Distillery.
`
The ha'penny bridge, the Samuel Beckett bridge (reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Puenta de la Mujer), and the Dublin spire are three iconic Dublin structures.
