While lacking the bone-white enormity of Pamukkale in Turkey, the Mammoth Terraces present an equally unique, vibrantly colored travertine formation created by hot acidic water seeping through limestone deposits over the millenia. The colorful streaks create the illusion of a waterfall frozen midway in course.
