The Belgians have a curious fascination with peeing, with numerous statues and murals devoted to this bodily function. Whether celebrating the natural consequence of its numerous brewpubs or the utter innocence of the cherubic trickle, you are rarely far from a gusher. That reverence for tinkling extends all the way to the erection of a public urinal right into the side of St. Catherine's church.

Arguably the most famous statue in Belgium,
as iconic as Copenhagen's Little Mermaid,
the Manikin Pis occupies a busy shop-filled
neighborhood of the Grand Place.
Built in 1388 then destroyed and rebuilt in 1619,
the happy wee boy has many legends behind him
- from wielding his jetstream to douse a deadly
fire to earning the ire of a drenched sorcerer and
cursed to pee in position forever. Whatever the
origin, it is the thing to see.
