The Red City of Marrakech
The royals used to live in the Kasbah (citadel) in the medina, surrounded by walls. It is still used by the royal family on visits. A set of gates were added for entrance. The most picturesque, and famous, is the Bab Agnaou gate ("Bab" - Arabic for Gate, "Agnaou" - Berber, possibly meaning Gnawa people of the Sahara)
The Majorelle gardens, a spot of botanic exotica in an exotic city - noted for its decorative cactus collections, bright contrasting colors, and its purchase by fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent.
