The "Cenacolo", as it is known in Italy, shows Christ revealing to his shocked followers that someone will betray him. The painted hall was made to look like an extension of the walls of the church room, and shows light coming from both the real windows of the church as well as the painted windows in the back. Unfortunately, the painting suffered a lot of damage, because of the quality of paint used, because of war, and because the Dominican monks callously raised the painting and erected a door right through Christ's feet to provide access to their kitchen!
