Prambanan - a Hindu Temple like no other

The 9th century Hindu temple of Prambanana is devoted to the Hindu Trimurthi - the creator Brahma, protector Vishnu and destroyer Shiva.

A UNESCO World heritage site, at one time the complex had 240 temples, in mandala form, inspired by the Hindu Mt Meru.
Much like the three Buddhist levels of Borobudur, the Hindu temple has three levels of increasing holiness - Bhurloka, Buvarloka and Svarloka.

Sprawling across the wide grounds, the strewn stones of Prambanan are quite reminiscent of other great temple complexes in the world, such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Borobudur in Java and Karnak Temple in Luxor Egypt.
