The ancient city offers a wealth of treats within its fortified walls, notably, the spectacular Roman aqueduct and the fairy tale castle Alcazar. Not to mention the Cochinillo, or roast suckling pig.

The amazing aqueduct is 18 km long, designed to
bring water from the river near the city, and is 100
feet tall at its highest
The feat of engineering is made even more impressive
by the fact that it was built 2000 years ago without
a single clamp or a drop of mortar.
160 arches, 120 pillars, made of 20,400 large granite blocks.

The Semana Santa (Holy week)
celebration for Easter culminates
with a colorful procession on Palm
Sunday

Towers and turrets with witch-hat shaped roofs make
the Alcazar a castle straight out of a fairy tale
Originally an Arab fort, the
bow-shaped palace proves
a stunning sight.
