One of the oldest and largest covered bazaars in the world, "Kapila Carsi" or Grand Bazaar contains over a thousand shops spanning nearly 60 streets. Built in the mid 15th century by Sultan Mehmed, and enlarged by Sultan Suleiman a century later, the bazaar is well known for its collection of pottery, jewels, carpets and spices.
