The most iconic natural wonder in Rio is Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf Mountain) overlooking Guanabera Bay - so named by the Portuguese as it reminded them of the conical sugarloaves from Madeira island. A gondola ride first to Morro de Urca, and eventually to the summit of Pao de Acucar is a must-do in Rio.
At the top, we are rewarded with panoramic views, and scampering diminutive wied marmosets, foraging for food..
